Ioan Bianu, a symbol of Romanian culture

Synopsis

Ioan Bianu was a pioneer in what we call today library management. He was a talented pedagogue who trained generations of librarians, but also literati, at the Department of History of Romanian Literature at the Faculty of Letters, which he also led. From 1929 he was President of the Romanian Academy. He remained in history as the "librarian of the Academy" or the "father of the Academy Library", being the one who organized it in a way that preserves its traces to this day. A work on Ioan Bianu brings back to the collective memory – almost 90 years after his death – the overall picture of his scientific legacy, carried out with grace and generously given to the Romanian nation.
