Antroponomastică și societate în Țara Românească la mijlocul secolului al XVII-lea
Synopsis
The subject of given names has been debated from various perspectives, representing a topic of broad interdisciplinary interest. In this article, we set out to approach anthroponomastics as an indicator of mentalities. We proceeded from the premise that names are not chosen at random but rather reflect sensibilities, trends, physical, psychological, or character traits, occupations, or affiliations (familial, regional, social, etc.). Consequently, a quantitative study of how people in a specific historical period named their children sheds light—albeit partially—on their way of thinking.
