Synopsis
This study deals with the international circulation of the most successful Romanian novel written by Mircea Eliade. Maitreyi (1933) has known numerous translations abroad, being also Eliade's most translated novel. I followed the translation directions, the biographical profile of the translators, dissociating between projects and concrete editorial achievements. The areas of territorialization taken into account were chosen by the relevance in the world circulation.
