Synopsis
This study examines the prerequisites for implementing the International Standard Name Identifier (ISNI) in Romania and evaluates its relevance within the national framework for author identification, copyright management, and integration into international information networks. ISNI provides a unique and unambiguous identifier for creators of scholarly, artistic, and documentary works, enabling accurate links between authors and their publications. The article discusses the potential benefits of adopting the ISNI system in Romania, including the standardization of author metadata, increased international visibility for Romanian creators, and enhanced protection of intellectual property. It also addresses the technical, legislative, and institutional challenges associated with implementation. The study concludes by emphasizing the importance of cooperation between cultural institutions and national authorities to ensure the successful adoption of ISNI in Romania, in accordance with international best practices and with significant benefits for the country’s creative and academic sectors.
