In 1883, Ghenadie Enăceanu published—under the title "Questions and Answers Regarding the Third Law That Was Introduced, Namely the Union in Transylvania"—an excerpt from a manuscript discovered in the library of Căldăruşani Monastery. In his introductory remarks, Enăceanu states that the document he is editing represents a "theological dispute" between Orthodox and Greek-Catholic Romanians in Transylvania. He explicitly declares that the primary reason for presenting this text to readers lies in its literary value, insofar as it serves as a testament to the evolution of the Romanian language during the 18th century.
