OSVALDO LAMBORGHINI, DENTRO Y FUERA DE ARGENTINA

Osvaldo Lamborghini made himself known in Buenos Aires in 1969 with a story titled El fiord, which, even today, remains a ground for critical dispute. The interpretive layers of this text overlap: is it an allegory of Peronism? Is it a reformulation of the canonical 19th-century Argentine story “El matadero” by Esteban Echeverría? Is it a work of Arltian heritage that seeks to fuse the tones and dialects of the country—the cultured with the popular, a lunfardo riding on the back of the baroque?
