CASA ŞCOALELOR ŞI PROBLEMA IDENTITAŢII ROMANEŞTI. SCURTE CONSIDERAŢII PRELIMINARE (1896-1918)
Rezumat
The establishment of "Casa Școalelor" (the "House of Schools") was necessitated and compelled by the difficult conditions hindering the development of education at the end of the last century. This institution played a decisive role in shaping national identity, as it was responsible for expanding the material infrastructure of education—such as libraries—and overseeing its organization. It emphasized the importance of studying history starting as early as primary and secondary school, and provided both financial and moral support for history-related initiatives undertaken by teachers. Furthermore, it focused on the writing and publication of historical works intended to serve as student textbooks or supplementary reading material, often awarded as prizes at the end of the school year.
