OSVALDO LAMBORGHINI, DENTRO Y FUERA DE ARGENTINA
Rezumat
Osvaldo Lamborghini made himself known in Buenos Aires in 1969 with a story titled El fiord, which, even today, remains a ground for critical dispute. The interpretive layers of this text overlap: is it an allegory of Peronism? Is it a reformulation of the canonical 19th-century Argentine story “El matadero” by Esteban Echeverría? Is it a work of Arltian heritage that seeks to fuse the tones and dialects of the country—the cultured with the popular, a lunfardo riding on the back of the baroque? Is it a bloody and lascivious reflux that gushes out those unconscious drives spoken of by Freud? In short: is El fiord a story that, drawing from the Argentine literary tradition, projects itself onto the country's present, or is it a textualist work in which the only thing that matters is language?
