《道德经》在塞尔维亚的译介与中华文化传播 . / TRANSLATION OF DAO DE JING AND THE DISSEMINATION OF CHINESE CULTURE IN SERBIA
Rezumat
Serbian scholars started translating the Dao De Jing a century ago. Among those early attempts, the most influential work is the translation of the famous poet M. Crnjanski. His adaptation largely impacted the dissemination of Lao Zi's philosophical thought in Serbian cultural space. In the following century, many Serbian scholars continued to seek answers and translation solutions, using English, German, and French translation, and in rare cases, the original in the ancient Chinese language. So far, they have published more than ten versions of the Serbian translation. This paper tries to sort out the profiles of those translators and their translation purposes and models. Then, comparing different interpretations of the key terms in the representative versions, translated by S. Brkić, V. Jerotić, and R. Pušić respectively, it illustrates how the translator's personal cultural identity and translation purposes influence his translation strategy. Multiple translations and their echoes in Serbian culture over a century reflect the universal value of Lao Zi's philosophy.
