Rezumat

The landscape of second language teaching and learning over the last two decades has seen the increasingly significant rise of extensive reading. In its classic definition, this method involves the consistent reading, for pleasure or interest, of simplified texts whose linguistic level is slightly below the reader's second language level. In the case of Spanish as a foreign language (FL), there are multiple published collections of graded readings that meet the needs of students of all linguistic levels. However, unlike the attention that academic literature has given to English as a FL, empirical research on extensive reading programs in Spanish learning remains poorly documented.
