Synopsis

The play Snake Milk was written in the early 1990s, during the transition period after the fall of communism in Bulgaria. It is a psychological drama, in which the conflicts are, above all, internal. The play explores themes such as the moral crisis of post-totalitarian society, the loss of spiritual landmarks, the degradation of human and family relationships. The title has a symbolic value and refers to the idea of lies, manipulation or false salvation. Snake Milk suggests something toxic, illusory or impossible – a false promise, a hope that is only a delusion.
